All Things Pre-Workout

Pre-workout is a big topic of conversation in the fitness world, and I’ve gotten a couple of questions on what I use/why I use it/when I use it/etc., so I figured it was time to do a post on it!

Why I take pre-workout?

I take pre-workout because my workouts are usually at 4:00am or 6:00pm, which both require just a little more energy than I can naturally muster up at those times of day. Pre-workout gives me the extra boost of energy I need to complete my workout as effectively as possible regardless of the time of day that I have to go. I also take pre-workout because it helps me maintain stamina and prevents muscle fatigue in order to get through my entire workout without feeling overly tired.

What pre-workout do I use?

My pre-workout of choice right now is WMNutriton. This pre-workout comes packaged in their own individual packets, kind of like the crystal light packets you’ve probably seen at the grocery store. It was created with the intention that you wouldn’t need to take it with water, so you can literally rip off the top and dump it in your mouth and you’re good to go! I throw a handful of these packets in my gym bag at the beginning of the week and use them as I need them! I don’t have to worry about carrying around a big cannister, measuring scoop, or shaker bottle that I can never find the metal ball to shake in it.


Why I like WMNutrition:

There are so many different things I love about this pre-workout, but the best part is that you don’t need water! It’s not necessarily ever a huge hassle to find water, but it is so nice to be able to just take the pre-workout wherever I am without needing to find a shaker bottle/water bottle. I am able to hop in my car after work, take the pre-workout and it kicks in by the time I get to the gym.

I also love WMNutrition’s pre-workout because it gives me the the boost of energy I need without making me feel weird like many other pre-workouts I’ve tried have. Depending on the amount of caffeine a pre-workout contains, it can definitely have some weird side effects. If you’ve tried various pre-workouts you’ll know what I’m talking about, but some can make your face itch, your lips tingly and your heart feel like it’s going to beat right out of your chest. A pre-workout should make you feel energized and ready to go. It definitely shouldn’t make you feel like you’ve just done some kind of crazy drug, which is not at all how WMNutrtition makes me feel!

Should you take pre-workout?

If you have to work out at a time of day when you’re feeling tired or fatigued, or just need an extra boost of energy, I definitely think taking pre-workout is beneficial. I don’t think it’s something that should be taken every single day for months on end, and I try not to take it if I don’t need it, but I do think there are times when it’s necessary!
